New Years Resolution

One of my resolutions this year is to start blogging on a more consistent basis again. So be on the lookout for more pictures and recaps of our busy lives.

I'll start this out with a recap of my trip to San Antonio. My birthday & Christmas gift from my parents this year was a trip to see the Huskies in the Alamo Bowl. Just my dad and I went and we had a great time =)

Our flight left Wednesday morning at 6:00 a.m. We finally arrived in SA around 3:00. We checked in and then headed to the Riverwalk for some dinner. We ate at Dick's Last Resort. It is a fun sports bar where they give you service with sarcasm. My dad needed some napkins and this is what we got:

We started off with nachos and then my dad ordered BBQ ribs & chicken and I had catfish. It was all pretty tasty.After we walked around the Riverwalk and stopped and got gelato and ice cream from Tuscani's. It was pretty tasty.We woke up Thursday morning and hung out at our Motel and got ready for the game. We had lunch at Pat O'Briens then went to the Tower of the Americas to check out the view. You could see for miles and miles!! We could even see our motel which was a couple miles away.

We then walked across to the Alamo Dome and the Husky tailgating party. We ended up meeting the mother of a cheerleader and I also got rudely snubbed by Joe Montana for a picture!!

It was a back and forth game full of fast paced scoring... we were exhausted by the end!! The Dawgs ended up losing 56-67 =[ It was the most entertaining losing game I've been too.

We got back to our hotel after midnight and caught another 6:00 a.m. flight back home.

March of Dimes - March for Babies 2011

Long time no blog!! I was so busy with being the event chair of the walk this year, but now that is over and life is back to just normal busy instead of crazy busy.

The walk this year was FANTASTIC!! We had a great team finally & I'm so excited and hopeful that everyone will be back next year along with a bunch of new walkers. It's so nice having all these people there showing their support for Ray San. Here's Our Miracle Ray San 2011.

The skies opened up and it poured as we enjoyed our pancake breakfast, crafts & bouncy house fun!! Luckily the sun came out right as the walk was about to start and it turned out to be a perfect day for a 3.1 mile walk. Unfortunately our team kind of got split up into different groups along the way though. Hopefully next year I can try to do a better job of keeping us all together!!Look at all the walkers =]

At the end we enjoyed some yummy hot dogs and chips. We also got the chance to take a picture with the Valley Medical Center team. Without all of them, Ray San wouldn't be as fantastic as he is now!!

A HUGE thank you to everyone that donated this year!! We were able to raise over $5,350 for the March of Dimes this year =] Looks like we'll have a big goal next year.

Yippee... the last one of the challenge. It only took me two months to do a 30 day challenge =]

I feel like I'm always pretty happy. I mean I may be in a bad mood or grumpy because I'm hungry, but I'm not unhappy with my life. I've got a miracle little boy who makes me laugh all the time. So since I'm pretty much always happy, I'll post a picture of me with some friends at the Mariners game this past weekend.

I wouldn't have married him if he wasn't a hottie... check him out =]If we are talking celebrities, then Jason Statham. He's got a nice body and I love his accent. Plus he plays bad asses... now if only he had a tattoo!!

Yummy chicken pot pie from Costco. It is pretty tasty and there is always HUGE chunks of chicken in the pie. The best part is that they don't put celery in it... I can't stand celery!!

I can't believe that this was almost a year ago!! Ray San looks so young here. This picture was taken at Alki and he was having fun scooping up the sand and putting it in his bucket. We tried building sandcastles, but he was still a little too young. Can't wait for the nice weather this year!

There have been so many fun weekends... Vegas for Tiffany's bachelorette party, Oregon Coast for family vacations, NYC with Brittany for the National Stationery Show just to name a few. However, this picture is from our wedding weekend and these are my friends that came all the way from Louisiana to celebrate our special day with us. I first met them at the National Karate tournament years ago in I believe Sacramento, CA. We've stayed in touch ever since and I'm so thankful. They are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet and Sharon still sends me King Cake every Mardi Gras (thank you Sharon). I really wish we all lived closer to one another so we could see each other more, but at least we can all stay in touch through Facebook =] Love & miss you guys!!

October 26, 2008 was the night I loved. It was Ray San's first night home with us after 102 days in the NICU. I don't think I slept really since I was always checking to make sure he was still breathing, but it was such a great feeling having him finally home with us. I can't believe how long ago that was, but it still seems like just yesterday.

Here's a couple cards I made. Making cards, scrapbooking, putting together favors, event planning... pretty much anything crafty is what I enjoy doing. Before Ray San I did wedding planning and worked for a friend that made wedding invitations. Now that I have Ray San, I do a little bit of scrapbooking and still make some cards. I hope to be able to get back into it more now that he's getting older.

Well I haven't had classes in a looooong time and I don't really have any of me in a class so I'll post this one. It is from a karate promotion. I was going from blue belt to purple belt and this is at the end when we shake hands with all of the black belts. I'm standing next to the cute little boy =]

Speaking of karate, I don't think I've ever really shared this. I was in a Bill Nye the Science Guy episode. You will have to fast forward all the way to the 19:30 mark and it will be right before the start of a karate segment. I'm in that little part. If you know me, you'll recognize me. I'm the Asian in the green belt =]

This is a really hard one since I love all of my family, but since I have to choose one of my favorites, I'll choose my Aunt Carolyn. She's a little bit goofy, a whole lot of fun and introduced me to Kool-aht (Kool-Aid). I stayed the night at her house with my two cousins and we baked cookies and had jello. She pretty much gave me everything my parents wouldn't let me have. How can you not love an Aunt like that!?! Thanks for being such a fantastic Aunt =]

Rachel is the one. She's been there for me through everything and I can tell her anything. She doesn't judge and we can go days without talking. This is a pic of me after we had been out in the snow at the beginning of the year. Ray San really had so much fun and he cried when we made him come inside. I hope this winter we get all the snow we were predicted to get last winter!! I can't wait to build snowmen and make snow angels with Ray San.

This is definitely one of my all time favorites. I pretty much love any movie that contains dancing and/or Julia Stiles. I'm also still a teeny bopper kid at heart so this is just my kind of movie... along with Coyote Ugly, Step Up, Center Stage, Honey, etc.

This is a French subtitled movie that I just love. It has a little bit of everything... love, mystery, adventure and laughs.

I have no idea why this is one of my favorite movies, but it just is. I could watch Stand by Me over and over and over.

Here's a pic of us with Santa this year. Ray San wasn't very excited about being that close to him. This was the third year we attended the Cookies with Santa party and the first year he cried and freaked out. He did warm up a little though and eventually was brave enough for a high five!!

This is a hard one for me. I love so many different artists!! I'm not a big fan of country, but I love Carrie Underwood and see her whenever she comes to town. I always see Maroon 5 in concert and will never miss Justin Timberlake or Eminem. I also love Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Pink, NKOTB, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Train, Robin Thicke... the list goes on.

I went with my friend Joanna and we were pretty excited to be the end of the line to meet the Harris brothers, Josh & Jake. This was such a fun event and I loved hearing the Captains and Crew talk about one another. I can't wait to go again this year!!

I can pretty much post any photo of Ray San for this challenge day, but I'm going to post his first picture.Why does this photo make me happy? It makes me realize how far my little one has come. He started off as this little one pound, eleven ounce 24 weeker and he's now a 32 pound 2.5 year old. Where has the time gone?? I love him more than anything and I cannot imagine life without him.

National Prematurity Awareness Day!!

Today is National Prematurity Awareness Day and I'm supporting it by wearing my purple!!As you all know by now, Ray San was premature... 15.5 weeks premature! He was born at 24w4d weighing 1lb 11oz and 13" long. We were in the NICU at Valley Medical Center for 102 days. His early birth threw our world upside down and really changed our lives. We were lucky though and he is now 2 years old and happy & healthy! Because of his birth, we are now involved in March for Dimes - March for Babies. We've walked the past couple years and this year, I'm going to co-chair the event so I need you all to join me on April 30, 2011 at the Seattle Center for this walk.

We welcomed another member into the family. Mike & Maryanne met their daughter Clara at 5:23 a.m. on October 13, 2010. I figured I better skip some stuff and post about the shower we had for Maryanne since her daughter is here now.

Newport, Oregon

We went to Newport, Oregon for a little family vacation. We were only there for a long weekend, but it was still a nice little getaway.

The next day we headed to the aquarium That night we celebrated Lori's 21st birthday!!It was a restaurant that tried to be fancy. They brought Lori a birthday dessert...... a candle and some stars!!We woke up the next morning and it was nice out so we decided to head to agate beach Yummy chocolate chip cookie!!That night we enjoyed delicious pizza... they were huge slices!!

Can you believe Ray San is two already?!? I know I can't. We started his birthday weekend by going to the Old Spaghetti Factory with Grandpa Bruce, Grandma Kathy, Grandpa Ray & Great-Aunt Cathy. Unfortunately, Grandma Pat had to work. Ray San really enjoyed his spaghetti and vanilla ice cream =]

Then we had Ray San's big birthday party at his Grandma & Grandpa Orme's house. It started out to be a really cold and crappy day, but eventually the sun came out!! All of our friends and family were there and it was once again a fun time!!

We started off May with the March of Dimes - March for Babies walk. It was once again a beautiful day and we all had a great time walking. Thank you everyone who donated to this cause. I could not have done it without you!!Our team shirts that I made

5 Years!

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary. I cannot believe it has been 5 years already, man that has just flown by!! 5 years ago today we had a beautiful wedding and were surrounded by our fantastic family and wonderful friends. The weather was gorgeous as well. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. Here are just a few of the photos from our special day.

Fun Times!!

I will start with something that doesn't have to do with Ray San.

I'm a big fan of the TV show - Deadliest Catch. It's about fishing vessels that go crab fishing on the Bering Sea in Alaska. I think what makes it interesting is that a lot of them are local area fisherman (Ballard & Seattle, WA). Anyways, in May, they had what is called Catch Con. It is a chance to meet the Captains & Crew, play some games, eat some food and take a tour of the boat. They also talk candidly with the Captains & Crew. It was a ton of fun & I can't wait to go back next year. It's free, but you need to register and they only open it up to so many people. We were one of the lucky few hundred =]

He loves water... absolutely LOVES it!! Bath time is always a struggle because he never wants to get out. He loves to just splash around and dunk his face and pour water on his head. Whenever I try to get him out, he cries and throws a fit. Usually kids cry to get in the bath, not this one!!

Here is the rest of our trip to Texas.

A couple of shots of the condo we stayed in. It was really nice and was so much more convenient now that we have a toddler!!

It was two stories and had three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Also had a washer and dryer and a kitchen and porch.

After we got settled in our condo, we headed out to get some dinner. This was where we decided. It was DELICIOUS and they had the BEST tortillas!

The next morning, it was raining so Ray San wore his new rain boots. My mom and I went and got manicures and pedicures and then we went to get some lunch.

We had lunch here. They had the best frozen custard which is like ice cream but creamier. It was really yummy!

That night was Katie & Kevin's wedding.

The next morning we woke up and checked out the town where we were staying, Gruene. We believe it is pronounced green. They had a little weekend fair where all of the older people sold their handmade goods.

After that, we went and had lunch here.

That evening we headed to Shavano Park where my friend Ruth and her family live. Here are all of the kids.

First stop, the Alamo. A lot of people said it was really boring, but I actually found it to be rather interesting. It was probably because my dad rented all of us the audio tour which helped explained a lot about what we were looking at.
After the Alamo, we headed to the Riverwalk. People said they liked it, but I didn't get it really. it was cool that it was right along the river, but it really was just a bunch of restaurants.

We had lunch here.

A few people told us to try Rudy's. We just happened to have one by the condo so we checked it out after our day in San Antonio. It was really good!!

The next morning we got up and headed up to Austin. Our first stop was Ladybird Johnson Wildflowers.
After that, we were going to check out East 6th street which is apparently just like Bourbon Street late at night. First we had lunch here.

I believe this is called the Frost Building. It was definitely a cool looking building.

After lunch, we went walking down 6th street. Here's the famous Driskill Hotel.
As you can see, East 6th Street was full of bars and pubs while West 6th Street is more office buildings.

After checking that out, we headed up to the University of Texas.
That night, my dad really wanted a steak so we went here. It was expensive, but really good.
We were leaving the next afternoon so after we checked out, we stopped at the park. Ray San had SO much fun swinging, sliding, climbing and hanging.
On the way to the airport, we stopped for our last meal in Texas. Since Gruene is a German town, we decided to try a German restaurant. I had an awesome chicken schnitzel.
We were able to squeeze a lot into our short little trip and I'm really glad. We had a fabulous trip!!

We headed to Texas in the middle of April for Kevin & Katie's wedding. We really thought the weather was going to be hot, but it was just right!!

The day of the wedding we woke up to gray skies and rain. I felt bad, but by the time the wedding arrived, it had stopped and the sun was starting to shine. They proceeded with their outdoor wedding and just as they were saying "I do" the rain started. The couple kissed, walked down the aisle and the skies opened up. Everyone ran for cover!!

It was a beautiful wedding with delicious BBQ from the famous Salt Lick restaurant. Mikey enjoying the ribs =]

We had 3 different kinds of cupcakes to try. The cake topper was Kevin's maternal grandmother's. We also had an awesome lightning storm as well.
We're happy for Kevin & Katie and hope we get to see them soon!!

Easter

So I left off with us practicing for Ray San's first Easter egg hunt. All of that practice definitely paid off. Ray San's basket was overflowing with eggs. He even picked some up and put them in another little girl's basket. He had a great time and after he shared his Cheerios with his friend Donovan. Here's a bunch of pictures.We also dyed eggs. I thought this egg spinner would be more fun for him instead of the traditional egg dye. He seemed to have fun pushing the button.

The Porrs were going to have us over for a Super Bowl party, but unfortunately their refrigerator broke. The Doyles were kind enough to host the party instead. We had a great time with tons of yummy food and good company. The party was made even better with a Saints win!!!!!! Since I was born in New Orleans, I didn't even think twice about cheering for the Saints.

I tried to find Saints t-shirts to wear and there were NONE. I ended up making mine and Ray San's. I also made some football and football helmet shaped brownies. I'm not the best decorator, but they came out good enough.Look out Colts... the Saints are marchin' in!!

Today a friend has to bury her brother after a tragic motorcycle accident. As an online community, we are trying to give her support as much as we can. Her brother loved orange and she asked that we wore some today to honor her brother so Ray San and I did.

We were pretty busy in December. After our Cookies with Santa party, I went to a couple of cookie exchange, we went to my friend J'Amy's Birthday party at Buca di Beppo and I went to a couple of Seahawks games. I also did a little Christmas shopping and we had our usual busy Holiday Season.

We had dinner and opened gifts on Christmas Eve at Auntie Kido's house. We woke up Christmas morning and headed over to the Orme's house and had breakfast and opened gifts. After we went to my parents house and opened more gifts. We came home and got ready for dinner and more gifts at Grandma Orme's house. Aunt Sandee and Uncle Jack and their daugther Kari and her family were up visiting so it was nice to see them. We came home and had our own Christmas and I packed for Ray San's and my trip to Los Angeles. We woke up and were off to Los Angeles!!!

Once again we were invited to Cookies with Santa thanks to the Woods Family and Grandma Pat and Grandpa Ray. After we got back from Green Bay, we had to hurry and get ready for Ray San's 1st Birthday!! It turned out to be a great day. The weather was perfect, there was good food and about 70 of Ray San's family and friends. Grandma Pat & Grandpa Ray let us use their home and it was just perfect!!

We hired our wedding photographer (Jan Domek of I DO weddings) to document this special occasion for us. While there, she also did some some 1 year portraits for us.

So after the 4th of July festivities, we went to Green Bay for cousin Mikey's wedding to new cousin Maryanne. We went to Lambeau Field and got a private tour. We were able to see the Packers locker room which NOBODY gets to see. We also got to see their weight room as well as the Super Bowl Trophies!! It was such an amazing tour. That night, we went to the rehearsal dinner where I had a yummy pasta. Saturday we got ready for the wedding and Sunday we had a fun BBQ at Maryanne's parents house. Monday we headed home. It was a whirlwind trip, but we had a great time and Ray San was styling in his little suit =]

Huge Update Part 1!

There is SO much that we've done over the past month that I'm going to have to split up this update.

So the end of June was pretty much the last update. Since then we've had the 4th of July. Ray and I started off by going to Beerfest at the Seattle Center with a couple of our friends. I'm not a big beer drinker, so I was the designated driver. It was actually pretty fun and there were tons of people there!! Joanna & I had the BEST mac & cheese EVER!! It was seriously so delish that we tried to find the restaurant and couldn't =[

After Beerfest, we went to Grandma Pat & Grandpa Ray's house for the big 4th festivities. It was great weather, awesome company and fantastic fireworks. Ray San enjoyed his first 4th and was really fascinated with the fireworks. They didn't scare him and he even stayed awake until they were over.

A Quick One From Work

Our daycare provider is out today so Ray San came to work with me. It was his nap time, but he did NOT want to sleep. I tried everything and finally just gave up. I put him in his exersaucer and he whined and cried and rubbed his eyes. Then he played a little and started to "zone out." I realized that he was too quiet and looked over and saw this...

This is really why you should nap when mommy tells you it's time!!

Ray San is almost over his cold so were thankful for that. We're getting ready for his big 1st birthday party. We're getting ready for Cousin Mikey's wedding to Maryanne in Green Bay. We've been given the go ahead to increase Ray San's solids intake. We had a nice Father's Day dinner at my Grandma Jean's house... too bad Ray had to work and my dad was sick so he missed out.

That is pretty much it. I will hopefully be able to elaborate with pictures soon. Fingers crossed Ray can get the computer fixed soon!!

A Long Overdue Update!

Last Sunday was our March for Dimes - March for Babies walk. It was so much fun and I'm excited to make it an annual family event. It was a gorgeous day and it was fun stopping along the viaduct and really checking things out. Thank you so much Mama, Papa, Auntie Kido, Joanna, J'Amy and Monica for walking with Ray San and me. 9 Months Old Now!!

I can't believe that our little boy is now 9 months old. Where did the time go?!? Oh yeah that's right... we spent the majority of it in the NICU!! Good thing they were such an awesome staff. We have almost been home as long as we were in the NICU now too!!

So Ray San has been making major improvements since going to therapy. His therapist is happy with how he reaches for things now and how long he can stand tummy time (I don't see that) and that he can actually sit up unassisted for a few seconds now. We got an A+ for our efforts at home and have been told to continue.

Since the weather here has been so spring-y lately, we took Ray San to the park for the first time. He absolutely loved it and was so tired after that he fell asleep before I could even finish buckling him in his seat. My mom came with me and she posed for all of the pictures. She told me that he had a big smile on his face when we were going down the slide. The only thing was they didn't have the baby swings with the leg holes. Oh and of course since he is such a cutie... within 5 minutes of being there, Ray San had 2 girlfriends =]

Ray San is now pretty close to 15 lbs. He's 26" and has a head circumference of 44.25. That is actually on the chart now for a 9 month old!! Hopefully it means he's going to be super smart =]

Here is the update I've been promising.

A few weeks ago we went to Ray San's follow up therapy assessment. They were happy with what he was doing and how he was developing. The only thing is they said he was still a little immature with his head and torso control. They recommended therapy one day a week. Ray takes Ray San Monday afternoons. So far he seems to be making pretty good progress.

At the end of March, Aunt Sandee came up from Oregon to visit. She has never met Ray San. He was really excited to meet her and take a picture with her.

Ray San is still growing nicely. He is 26" and weighs 14 lbs. 8 oz. He's still in the 5% for weight to height ratio... maybe he's going to be tall!! He's also really starting to laugh and is constantly babbling now. It sounds like some constanant sounds are starting to be said. He's also found his feet and tries to put them in his mouth since everything still immediately goes in there. He's also wearing 3-6 months clothes now and size 2 diapers. I just can't believe how much he is growing.

So basically we are pretty much the same. Our furnace went out last week and it was replaced Thursday. It is really nice to come home to a home that is 62 rather than 52 degrees. We have a follow up appointment for his circumcision on the 14th and his 9 month well visit is coming up too. I can't believe it has already been 9 months!!!

Overdue Update!

Ray San is healing nicely from his surgery and the swelling and redness is starting to subside in his manly parts region. We are thankful it has not bothered him too much. We've been able to control the pain with Tylenol infant drops.

Before the surgery, Ray San was getting pretty good at tummy time. He went from falling asleep to getting really mad. He would hold his head up for a bit all the while wailing away. He is just too cute and was actually starting to roll over from his tummy to his back. I'm hoping this surgery does not set him back too much. Here is a video of the roll. It takes him a while, but he does it. Oh and turn DOWN the volume on your computers. I do not want you to hear all of us talking away to Ray San.

I was inspired by this week's Extreme Makeover Home Edition. It was about a family that has a premature son. He was born 10 weeks early with a lot of respiratory problems. Her story inspired her to take pictures of other babies for families and they also joined March for Babies (March of Dimes). As I said, I was inspired and have decided to join March for Babies too. You can check out what it is about by clicking the link to the right. There you can also sponsor me. In addition, I have yet to join a team. I was hoping to form a team of my own and have all of you, my family and friends, join me in the walk. If you are interested, please let me know. I would love to put a team together for this great cause.

At Ray San's surgery, he weighed 12 lbs. 13 oz. and was 24.5" long. Can you believe that he is already so big?!? He's also 7.5 months (4 months corrected) and has found is tongue. He loves when you stick yours out at him and will sometimes follow and stick his out. He has also fallen in love with his fingers. No longer just the fists, but he's actually sticking just a couple fingers in his mouth.

Before Ray San's surgery, we went to dinner with Nurse Jeanne. We had such a nice time and of course Ray San was such a good boy and loved Jeanne. This time we remembered to get pictures and Ray San even got a kiss after the date =]

The surgery was a success! We got started about an hour later than we were supposed to, but things went great. Everything looks all nice now and Ray San is doing fine. He's awake, eating and kicking his legs around just like normal.

Ray San his surgery Monday to remove the extra skin he has around his manly parts and also for his circumcision. We will be at Children's Hospital again, he has to go under again, he has to stay overnight again and it is supposed to take three hours again. I'm nervous and will be really happy when he is awake and we are done with all of this. Please send us all of your positive thoughts/vibes/prayers.

I will try to update Monday night so you all aren't too worried.

On Fridays Ray San gets watched by Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Bruce. Mainly they cuddle him and hold him while he's sleeping, but they also play with him while he's awake. He swings, does some tummy time, reads books and practices sitting. He's getting SO good at sitting and is getting much better head control.

We also went to a Super Bowl party. We had great food and good friends. I didn't take many pictures, but I did take a picture of each of Ray San's girlfriends. Look at how cute they are!!

We have some friends in from out of town and have had some good times. Thursday night we went to dinner at Talarico's with my old boss Larry and his family. I unfortunately forgot my camera.

Saturday night we went to Acme Bowl to see my friend Lindsey. She moved down to California about three months ago. It was great seeing her again and California is definitely treating her well. We miss her though and can't wait for her to visit again.

Wednesday night we are going dinner with my friend Allen. I haven't seen Allen since he left for Officer Training. That has to have been at least a year ago. I'm really excited for that and can't wait for him to meet Ray San.
