2 Weeks Old Already!!

Ray San is already two weeks old... boy time has flown!!

Yesterday they took him off the ventilator and he was breathing on his own. They let him do that for about 14 hours, but he just got too tired so today he went back on the ventilator. In a few more days, they will let him try to breathe on his own again. He is doing good though and the doctors are still really happy with his progress. If he can stay stable off of the ventilator, I will be able to hold him. I cannot wait for that moment.

We also aren't really sure of his weight. One night they weigh him and he's 2 lbs. 1 oz. They weigh him again and he's 1 lb. 14 oz. They have to lift up and hold all of his tubing and then place him back down so getting an accurate weight is a little hard. He looks bigger to us so I'm pretty sure he has gained quite a bit of weight.
He is also in his own room now instead of the room connected to the OR. It is nice. It has windows looking out, a couple of chairs and a couch. We will be able to spend a lot more time with him now.

Here are some 2 weeks pictures.

What a support system we have!!

Aside from our wonderful families, we have a whole ton of fantastic friends that have been praying and thinking good thoughts for Ray San. So many people have been to visit and have called to see how things are going. I'm truly thankful for our families and our friends.

Today really epitomized these sentiments. One of my friends Denise stopped by my work to drop off a card. A group of my gal friends (we all met on the internet while planning our weddings) chipped in and got us gas gift cards. We really will need that for our many trips to the NICU. The fact that these gals organized and did that for us speaks volumes about their character. We are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.

Tomorrow Ray San will be two weeks old. I will do an updated post with pictures.

8 Days & Counting

I can't believe that almost 9 days ago, I had an emergency c-section. Ray San is 8 days+ already. Here he is just a few hours old:

I'm going to add a couple more current pictures of him. Getting pictures is hard because they keep it dark in there to protect his eyes. Ray San is still hanging in there like a good little boy. He's had a couple of rough nights, but he has also had consecutive good days. His doctors have told us that it is going to be an up and down journey. So far we have definitely had more ups then downs. We go see him every night and on the weekends we are there in the morning and evening. I love talking to him and really love that he moves when I talk to him. It gives me peace of mind.

I'm doing pretty good myself. I'm still sore, but each day it gets a little better. I'm already back to work, but taking it REALLY easy. Ray's been working and my parents have been too, so there is no one to help me out or look after me at home. Work is the next best thing.

I really will try to keep updating as things progress for Ray San.

24 Weeks!

Wednesday I went in for my 24 week appointment. Can you believe how fast it has gone by?!? I can no longer see my feet.
No ultrasound or anything spectacular. Just a pretty quick little visit actually. They listened to the heart which was still beating nice and strong at 160 bpm. I've lost another pound and they really don't seem to be all that concerned... 6 months = 6 lbs. lost =]

This weekend is a scrapbooking retreat for me. Then I really have nothing until September which is filled with baby showers!! I cannot wait to see what all our generous and loving family & friends pick up for Ray III.

Speaking of Ray III, I think we have found a nickname... at least for my side of the family. We are going to call him Ray San (san is III in Japanese)... cute no?!?

Our first purchase!!

A good friend of mine forwarded a link to me. It was for this t-shirt. This is the cutest shirt and describes Ray III so perfectly.

Is this not just the most adorable & funniest thing you have seen. I absolutely LOVE it.
